Get some card games in your life!

Cards against Procrastination are designed with a serious intention – to help you be more efficient. However as they are cards there is an element of play in using them. For this blog I will highlight the ways to play with the cards for yourself or if working with others.

Numbers

Each card is numbered in Cards Against Procrastination so you can use these as an easy way to start using them. I have though of two options but do let me know if you find any more – the more fun the merrier here in Positive Procrastination World.

  1. The first option can be used on your own or with a group. Write the numbers 1 – 42 on separate bits of paper and fold them over. Put them in a bowl or water ever decent receptacle you have to hand. Then someone picks out a number and carries out the task on that card
  2. In a slight variation you might want to work within one of the sections of Cards so limit your numbers to say 1-3 for planning tips.
  3. If working in a group you could choose a section you want to work with – it could be finding your focus or planning for future sessions. Then get the group to vote on which section and card they prefer to use. This way multiple different activities can be used by different students. Increasing the inclusivity of tasks and providing individualised learning that is student led.

Decision dice

The decision dice come into their own here! If feeling totally overwhelmed then it can help to write down a section of the cards on each side of the dice – so you end up with a personalised dice. As in the picture you can choose which ever you need because the dice come with their wipe clean cloth and travel pouch and smooth tailors chalk to write new options on!

The decision dice could also be used for the numbers on the cards.

Shuffling

With the Cards you’ll find that ‘everyday I’m shufflin’’. Some cards will become a regular part of your work day and others you may only use once in a while. To access new options then shuffling and splitting the cards as you would a deck of playing cards is a fun way to try new things.

Not all procrastination is bad, so make sure you include options for breaks and rewards!

You’re doing great,
